Why are there different pairing instructions for brand new lights?
To make the pairing process faster and simpler, lights will automatically enter Smart pairing at power on in the following conditions:
- Light does not currently belong to a WiZ home (brand new light, or light previously deleted from the WiZ app)
- Light currently belongs to a WiZ home but cannot find or connect to its Wi-Fi network at power on
If your light does not automatically enter smart pairing, you can still force it to do so. However, to reduce the risk of triggering pairing mode unintentionally for lights which already belong to a home, this requires a few extra steps as below. For more troubleshooting details, you may take a look of this article.
This is why we ask you whether your light is new or used. Picking "new" opens a shorter flow and saves you a bit of time. When in doubt, please pick "Not sure" to open the flow containing all of the pairing steps.
How can I tell if my light is new or used?
If your light is coming right out from the box, we of course advise you to select "New".
If it is a second hand light or it was not setup by you, just select "Not sure" to proceed.
What if I don't know whether it is new or used?
Simply select "Not sure" to go ahead with product setup.
