Fade in
Some of our lights are really big, really bright. This is very useful, but maybe a little blinding if they suddenly turn on in a dark room. This is actually true for most lights, even the smaller ones.
In order to provide you with a smooth, comfortable experience, WiZ lets you adjust how long each light will take to reach its full brightness when you turn it on. We call this the fade in.
We generally recommend to use at least 0.5s or 1s, to keep things comfortable. During that time, the light will gradually brighten until the target brightness is reached.
Fade out
When you are about to leave a room, you may want to turn off the lights, but one or two more seconds of light can also be welcome to let you leave the area safely. This is a very common concept (same thing happens in your car when you close the door - the light does not turn off right away), which becomes quite necessary with functional rooms like basements, attics, corridors...
WiZ lets you configure how long each light will take to completely turn off after it has received an "off" command. During that time, the light will gradually dim, until it switches off entirely. We call this "fade out".
We generally recommend to use at least 1s to keep things comfortable.
