SpaceSense is dependent from your network to function to its full capability.
Lights communicate on your network to analyse signal and detect movement, and may need to be on the same access point to do so effectively.
When network optimization is enabled, the lights try to attach to the same access point as the current beacon in order to ensure better performance of SpaceSense.
When network optimization is disabled, the lights do not try to attach to the same access point, and in certain cases it may result in error of SpaceSense functionalities and issues detecting motion.
